What the warranty covers

Our warranty covers manufacturing defects: flaws that come from how the piece was made, not from how it was worn or handled. Examples include:

  • Casting flaws, porosity or cracks in the metal that are present from manufacture
  • Solder joints or links that separate without any sign of pulling, stretching or impact
  • A clasp, hinge or post that stops working as designed under normal use
  • A stone that loosens because the setting was not made correctly, with no sign of impact or prong wear

What the warranty does not cover

Physical and accidental damage

  • Chains, links or bracelets broken by snagging, catching, pulling or tension
  • Clasps or jump rings that are bent, forced or pulled open
  • Pieces that are dropped, bent, crushed, stepped on or struck
  • Stones that are chipped, cracked or lost after impact

Wear, care and other exclusions

  • Normal wear: scratches, thinning prongs or shanks, stretched chains and worn rhodium or plating
  • Damage from chlorine, chemicals, heat or improper cleaning and storage
  • Loss or theft of the jewelry or of any stone
  • Any piece repaired, resized or altered by another jeweler, which ends coverage

Routine upkeep such as polishing, rhodium re-plating, re-tipping worn prongs and resizing after the free 100-day resize is available at our standard rates. Pre-owned watches carry the warranty stated on their listing.

About chains and bracelets

Fine chains are delicate by design, and most breaks happen when a chain catches on clothing, hair or a door handle. When a chain or bracelet comes to us, our jeweler examines the break under magnification. Stretched links, pulled or distorted metal, or a forced clasp point to physical damage, which is not covered. A clean failure at a manufactured joint with no sign of stress points to a defect, which we repair at no charge.

How every claim is reviewed

  1. Tell us what happened

Email info@picassogolddiamond.com or chat with us. Include your order number, clear photos and when you noticed the issue. If a stone feels loose, please stop wearing the piece.
  2. Bring or send it in

Visit our Chicago showroom, or ship the piece to us fully insured using the instructions we send you. Please don't take it to another jeweler first, as outside work ends coverage.
  3. Our jeweler inspects it

We examine the piece in person to find the cause. Our jeweler's assessment decides whether the issue is a covered manufacturing defect.
  4. Repair or quote

Covered defects are repaired at no charge. If a piece can't be repaired, we'll replace it with the same or a comparable item. If the issue isn't covered, we'll send you a repair quote, and no work begins without your approval.

Warranty terms

  • Coverage applies to jewelry bought from Picasso Gold & Diamond, for the original purchaser, with proof of purchase. It can't be transferred.
  • Shipping the piece to us is the customer's responsibility. We return covered repairs with complimentary insured shipping within the US.
  • This warranty is not insurance. For loss, theft and accidental damage, we recommend adding your jewelry to a personal jewelry insurance policy. Your receipt lists what you need for coverage.
  • This warranty doesn't affect any rights you have under applicable law.

Free cleaning and prong checks for life

Bring any piece you bought from us to 54 E Madison Street, 2nd Floor, Suite 202, for complimentary cleaning and a prong and setting check. For rings worn every day, we recommend a check every six months. It's the easiest way to catch a worn prong before a stone is lost.
